2013年，为了鼓励中国户外题材纪录片的创作，挖掘中国本土新兴导演，班夫中国创办了“中国户外纪录单元”的主创活动。2013年，“中国户外纪录单元”共收到60多部送选影片，并筛选出16部作为分享影片，在北京、上海的主会场（千人大剧院）进行分享活动，所有的主创人员都从五湖四海赶来，站到了属于他们的舞台上，与观众们分享他们的拍摄经验，活动结束后，引起了广大户外纪录片人和广大观众的热烈反响，有大量媒体进行了跟踪报道。

2014年，“中国户外纪录单元”开始更名为“中国户外影像计划”。

2017年，第四届“中国户外影像计划”从送投的多部影片中优选出6部影片。于2017年6月11日在北京举办了评优典礼和影片影片分享活动。

In order to encourage outdoor/extreme sports filmmaking in China and discover more local adventure filmmakers/directors, Banff China started the first “China Outdoor Film Show” in 2013. The first show has waken the long sleeping adventure filmmaking industry in China and we have received over 60 film entries in the first year. 16 finalists and their filmmakers were then shared their stories across the country. The campaign received a large amount of positive feedback and media presence.

In 2014, China Outdoor Film Show was renamed China Outdoor Film Fest.

2017 the 4th China Outdoor Film Fest awarded 6 films out of entries，and the awarding ceremony & experiece sharing was held in Beijing on June 11th，2017
